Express Entry
The Canadian Express Entry Program is a points-based immigration system that selects skilled workers for permanent residence in Canada. The program is managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
To be eligible for Express Entry, you must first find out if your are eligible for any of the streams managed under the Express Entry Program. If eligible, you then create an Express Entry profile. Your profile will include information about your work experience, education, language skills, and other factors. Once you have created a profile, you will be entered into the Express Entry pool. Your profile will be compared to the profiles of other candidates in the pool, and you will be ranked based on your score. If you have a high enough score, you will be Invited To Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada. You will then need to submit a full application, which will include additional information about your work experience, education, and language skills.
The following programs are managed and processed under Express Entry:
1) Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
2) Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
3) Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
Each of these streams have minimum requirements that applicants must meet before they apply. As stated above, the most important requirements are related to level of education, English and/or French language skills, skilled work experience and age. Express Entry streams are point based, and you will be assessed on a point grid that is calculated through a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
Express Entry draws are regularly administered by the Canadian Government. Candidates with the highest CRS scores are invited to submit applications for Permanent Residence (PR). After receiving an invitation and submitting an application package for PR, the approval process is often less than a year.
